ALVES GONCLAVES

40 designers from 21 countries are set to rock Luanda at the 2nd Annual Fashion Business Angola  from 14 to 16 October.

In a co-organization between FIL – International Fair of Luanda - and the Angolan Ministry of Mining, Geology and Industry, over 130 exhibitors in fashion, apparel, costume, jewellery, accessories and beauty will gather for the biggest fashion and beauty expo on the continent.

“Angola is one of the fastest growing economies in Africa, as such it is the perfect locale to celebrate fashion on the continent. My vision is to make Angola the go to destination for Fashion from Africa. After the success of the first edition, I am encouraged to realise this dream,” says Mr Matos Cardoso, the President of the Board of FIL Angola, and the man behind Fashion Business Angola.

World-renowned Portuguese design duo Alves Gonçalves join this year’s line-up, which boasts 7 designers from South Africa, including heavy weights such as Klûk CGDT and David Tlale who both boast accolades such as Designer of the Year, respectively.

Two designers from North Africa, Salah Barka of Tunisia and Soucha of Egypt will also join the line-up of designers.

“We have been working hard to make the 2nd chapter of Fashion Business Angola even more successful than the inaugural event,” says Jan Malan of Umzingeli, the show's Fashion Director. “Fashion Business Angola has the potential to unify and bring together the fragmented fashion industry on the continent.”

Also invited to show their best work at Fashion Business Angola are three fashion week platforms: Dakar Fashion Week that was recently held by Adama Paris; Colour in t he Desert Fashion Week, which was held Botswana headed up by Mpho Kuaho; as well as Swahili Fashion Week from Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania under the auspices of Mustafa Hassanali.

“Fashion Business Angola is not just about shows. It's about the business of networking designers, manufacturers and retailers across Africa and promoting African resources on African soil to a local and international audience,” says Malan.

26 international models representing 10 countries worldwide will be flown in by TAAG, the national airline of Angola from Rio, London, Paris, Johannesburg and Cape Town. 

Celebrating Angola’s win at Miss Universe, Fashion Business Angola will also be celebrating successful international models that hail from Angola. Sharam Dinez will fly in from London and Roberta Narciso, a top 10 winner in the 2010 Elite Model Look, will fly in from Paris, fresh from featuring in the most recent spate of fashion weeks in Europe.  Nayma  Mingas, Angola’s most successful modelling export will make a special appearance.

THE REAL DEAL

Why are there so many fake things all round, the country is gradually becoming the fake capital of the world, we are so astonished by the avalanche of fake things we see daily-fake people, fake breast, fake complexion, Fake Christian Louboutin shoes, Fake GianMarco Lorenzi's, Fake Tom's,Fake Hermes Birkin bags, Fake LV, Fake smile, Fake friendships,fake!fake!!fake!!!!!!!!everything. What is going on. And the culprits are also well known in the society, meaning.......... they too are FAKE!!!!!!!!!!.

PHARELL WITH THE REAL McCOY

In order to impress or be counted amongst those who are the IT people, people are so willing to sell their birthright for nothing, that is why there is so much unholy relationships going on, people have put themselves under so much pressure,and are so desperate to do anything, just because they want to belong.

Imagine this, an average Hermes Birkin bag goes for between $9,000 & $150,000 dollars, the cost is determined by the rarity of the material used for its production-Ostritch,Alligator,Crocodile,Lizard etc, in Naira that's between #1,350,000 & #22,500,000 that's at #150 to a Dollar, that's a staggering  amount, dont you all think?, but go out in Lagos and some other parts of the country, you see big madams, young girls, models even University students carrying them in all colours, some in some very odd colours, that  they immediately shout fake. We know for sure some carry the real McCoy, but check out this scenario a student or a young girl, who is still under her parents care, spending that much on one single bag, she's either a thief or better still an armed robber, a ritualist or a call girl and for her to be the last one, she's must be something special. We remember the wife of a former governor, who is now a Senator that bought one for her daughter sometime back, atleast we know those one's could afford it.

Let us look at another scenario, the average Christian Louboutin costs between $400 & & $900 though some go more expensive, again depending on some variables, in Naira that comes to about #60,000 & #135,000, which though is still affordable,but its still steep for the average pockets, but you can be so sure to see it everywhere, been worn by all and sundry, some even now use it to play football-Lwkld!!!!!!!!!!!!, AND IT GOES ON AND ON LIKE THAT.

And the question that continually comes to mind is this, must you carry a designer label?, who are you trying to validate your ignorance to?, why must you put yourself under unnecessary pressure, to impress another. Why?,why??, why?????.

HOW TO SPOT A FAKE HERMES BIRKIN.

1.The name ''Hermes Paris,Made in France'' is always stamped on the front face of the bag.
2.The date of the manufacture, is always on the bags. The artisans mark and year of production are stamped beneath the right belt.

Nneoma Orji is the Law graduate daughter of Governor Theodore Orji, she graduated from the Metropolitan University In London, said to be very humble and soft-spoken, she and the husband to be are said to have met sometime back at a dinner, and the rest like they say is now history.

We hear that plans are already on to make sure that its a superlative wedding, and already in talks with the first family of Abia State is an award winning event organiser and we also hear that make-up is set to be done by one of the best make-up artist in the country.

DELTA STATE GOVERNOR'S DAUGHTER GETS SET FOR WEDDING

The very brilliant daughter of the governor of the very oil rich state of Delta, who is enjoying a 2nd term in office, is getting prepared to walk down the aisle with her beau. The very lucky dude we hear is the son of a top Economist-Raymond Okpu and from the little snippets,though unconfirmed we are hearing the couple might have had a quiet court wedding already, the November 2011 white wedding Nuptial ceremony is only an additional. Orode Jade Uduaghan- Okpu, is the founder of the Pink Pearl Cancer Foundation and at 22, born on July 31,1989 has really done well for herself, she is a graduate of Psychology from the University of Windsor, Ontario,Canada.


She started her foundation as a little way of showing how touched she was by the plight of women afflicted with Breast & Cervical cancer, she didn't that because one was comfortable, that they can then seat down and look, and the little acorn of then as now grown into an oak tree.                                                                                                                                                       

So come November of this year, which is only a month a few days away, the whole of Delta will shake as the governor would host many at the Nuptial of his gorgeous and very kind-hearted daughter.

Pink Pearl Foundation Unveil Plans to Mark World International Month for Cancer - 'Pink October'

This October, to mark the breast cancer month, Pink Pearl Foundation with her vision of reducing breast cancer in Nigeria will be flagging off four events to continue its awareness creation. The events which are PINK KITCHEN, BALL OUT, PINK RIDE & CAMP DIVA will take place on 5^th-7^th, 15^th, 18^TH-22^nd and 27^th-29^th of October respectively. With this events, the Foundation will be creating a relaxed atmosphere where individuals as well as groups can come and have fun and at the same time be provided with basic information on breast cancer, its effects, treatments and healthy tips on how to avoid having this disease that claim the lives of women every day.

PINK KITCHEN is an open restaurant to be flanked by celebrity servers including His Excellency; the governor of Delta State; Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Sammie Okposo, Mabel Makun, Mo’Cheddah, I Go Save, amongst others who will be actively involved for the duration of the event. This exciting event will be held at the 911 FIELD by UGBUWANGUE MARKET, NPA EXPRESS ROAD Warri Delta State @ 11am from the 5^th to 7^thof October. Tickets will be sold for the sum of N600.00 at Otres Fast food and at the venue. Attendees who have purchased the ticket will be served with choice food in a relaxed and entertaining atmosphere while the awareness goes on at the background with slideshows, drama presentation, music, comedy and lecture. This event is supported by Arik Air, Otres fast food, Staco Insurance, Vantgarde limited, 911, Remain blessed catering services, ICARE Foundation and Artletic works.

BALL OUT is a novelty football match between two women team to create awareness, impact knowledge and provide screening for our women. It is scheduled to hold @ the OGHARA EFE TOWNSHIP STADIUM, OGHARA DELTA STATE on October 15th @ 2pm. Her Excellency, wife of the Delta state governor will be the special guest of honour. Early that day as well, there is going to be a morning walk/rally in line with our radical campaign on the gravity of breast cancer. This event is supported by Edo State Government, Sulphur Streams, Otres fast food, Fradro limited and Stand up to cancer 9ja.

PINK RIDE holds from the 18^th to 22^nd of October and would cut across Edo State to Delta state. This event is in collaboration between the pink pearl foundation and the lifestyle cycling club Port-Harcourt. The cyclists will be riding through Benin-Warri-Abraka-Asaba. We expect over 100 cyclists and 500,000 spectators over the entire journey through several cities, towns and villages alongside creating awareness in our usual entertaining manner. We intend to reach a further audience of one million by post coverage of the event through television, radio and newsprint. This event is supported by St. Luke’s hospital Asaba, Artletic works, Access Bank, ICARE foundation, FRSCN, Edo State Government and Lifestyle Cycling club

Burlesque Princess has teamed up with the Pink Pearl Foundation to host CAMP DIVA, a course which will be offered to female cancer survivors and their friends and family. The class will incorporate dance and empowerment exercises as featured in our regular programming and also a tailored group routine specific to the participants.

Recognising the effects both physically and emotionally on not only the diagnosed but those friends and family who provide support though the difficult journey cancer presents, the class offers participants the opportunity to bond while having fun releasing their inner ‘Diva’. Camp Diva aims to empower women through mental and physical health promotion and reinforce positive self esteem.

The sessions will take place on the mornings of October 27^th- 29^th 2011 on Lagos Island and will be free to all participants. Tofa was the losing candidate at the election that was adjudged as the freest and most fair election in the annal of the nation, and it pitched a very good friend of the sitting President-Alh Abiola against Alh. Tofa and when it was obvious that Chief. Abiola had swept the poll by a large margin, the election was suddenly annulled.
