Lagos played host to the son of the legendary Italian designer-
Roberto Cavalli lastnite at the very prestigious
Oriental Hotel along the Lekki-Epe expressway on the Island,
Tommaso Cavalli as the head of
Teuta Degli Dei the family winery located in the
Chianti region of Tuscany, was in the country to introduce one of their best wines to selected Nigerian connoisseurs and the media. The Italy based company in partnership with
Silverspoon Global Concept which is their Nigerian based counterpart had a wine tasting introduction, the Nigerian company is managed by Mrs Bukie Faniran. The event was chaired by the First lady of Lagos-Mrs. Abimbola Fashola & the father of the day was His Royal Highness The Elegushi, who was ably represented by one of his high chiefs, others who attended were Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas,Editor of ThisDay Style-Ruth Osime,Pat Faniran,Wosilat Seriki,Taofiq Okoya, PR guru Bobby Taylor,very talented designer Yvonne Nwosu who owns the Vonne label, Liz Gavy who owns Gavyz Couture & many others
The wines are made from the very best of vines from the farms owned by the renowned designer & his son- Tommaso who runs it , who before taking charge of the wine company, was in charge of the family's racehorse stud farm.
The Cavalli selection is a blend of Merlot,Cabernet Sauvignon,Caberet Franc,Petit Verdot & Alicante Bouschet,aged in small oak barrels for 18 months,followed by a further 12 months in bottle before release. The wine project itself began in 2000 and majorly Tommaso's business with very minimal involvement from his famous father, and at the beginning over 25 hectares of vine was planted,first harvest was in 2004, and the first wine was released in 2007 and before the launch in Lagos 2 days ago,it has only been launched in London,Switzerland,Germany & the US & its now in Lagos,Nigeria exclusive to Silverspoon Global Concept.
