COLLAGE OF GUESTS AT THE OCCASION |
How do we describe this wedding ceremony? What superlatives can one afford to use? Which is the best way to describe it that would not diminish or take away from the event? Let's just safely describe it as 'a carnival of fun, excitement and enjoyment' at a point it became a 'mini concert sort of'. Even the heavens opened up in apparent blessing, that many had to tagged it the 'showers of blessings' and which stopped afterwards to allow the event go on without any hitch or disruption whatsoever.LOADS AND LOADS MORE INFO & PICTURES AFTER THE BREAK. How do we describe the couple? Let's first talk about Tunji aka Teebillz, who was the first to come in and did so in a convoy of cars. His was a jet black unmarked Bentley, looking every inch like royalty in his all white traditional aso-oke agbada ensembl even the cap was white, he matched it with an all gold Rolex presidential watch and a pair of jet black suede Christian Louboutin natty shoes. Beard was very well trimmed, all his boys who came to give support wore white outfits and topped it with their aso-ebi fuchsia pink caps, except for Papa Omisore who looked quite cool in a pink very well made agbada. The handsome groom was supported on both sides by security guys to make sure no photographs was taken by those not accredited, and he was immediately led to his changing room.
After About 30 minutes that TJ had arrived, the extraordinarily gorgeous Tiwatope also came in to the venue, her transport of choice was a jet black Mercedes Benz G-Wagon. Everyone immediately wanted to catch a glimpse of her, she was the epitome of grace and humility. The kind-hearted one was as usual very respectful greeting all that she met on the way, her silver lace top and the white wrapper and the well tied gele were all on point. She also was quickly led to her own changing room, till it was time to be called out for the engagement ceremony.
The traditional ceremony took forever inside the smaller hall that couldn't contain as many people that wanted to see it. We had gotten to the venue at about 10am and till after 2pm it was still going on. All the while, more and more people were arriving and couldn't get access into the main hall. Fact was that the first part of the event was to have begun at 9am, while reception that was to follow immediately had been slated to start at 11am. The reception only started at 3pm.
The bigger hall for the reception was undergoing a total transformation while the engagement ceremony was ongoing. The heavenly beautiful venue decor was by Uche Majekodunmi's Newton & David, so for those who know what they can do, need we say more? What was done inside that hall was amazing, most especially the 'belvedere' or should we shall call it the gazebo where the couple were going to sit. There's no way you can miss this spot, it was done to be the glorious center of attraction. It was super duper beautiful. The Wedding Company crew, an arm of the No Surprises Event Company were the event coordinators, and they must be commended for a great job well-done. Everything was very well arranged and the places that they should be, the usherettes or should we say hostesses must have been carefully chosen as they all looked gorgeous and were very well attired. There was a massive bar to the right side of the hall next to gazebo, which was inside the specially cordoned off area which was done for the friends of the couple. It was from this bar that many choice drinks- the champagnes, the brandies, vodkas, the wines etc were flowing from. It was controlled by Elohor Aisien. The obviously very stylish couple changed outfits at least 3 times during the course of the day, After the the all white/silver outfits they first wore to the venue, the later changed into another purple ensemble and then much later, Tiwa changed into this very gorgeous aquamarine sequined outfit that many applauded.
King Sunny Ade and his band were on the band stand directly opposite where the couple's stand was. The band began playing from about 3pm, playing all KSA'S favourites known by most and singing the praises of the couple also, they only stopped at a point for some hours for the deejay (Deejay Exclusive) to throw in some badass mixes & jams, which the younger crowd really wanted and enjoyed. Most of the entertainers at the venue, made sure to perform at least one of their major hits one after the other. From Don Jazzy to Banky W to Iyanya to Lynxx to Seyi Shay to Davido etc. The Mavin crew except for D'Prince were all in the house, since it was their first lady's wedding. You could see their Porsche, Bentley and other cars outside the hall. The very hilarious Seyi Law was the day's MC.
Who didn't we see, Oba Elegushi, Saheed Elegushi, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, Rasheed Muri-Okunola & wife, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, Femi & Nana Otedola, Nkiru Anumudu, Vivienne Chioloji, Awele Azuh, Aremo Segun Oniru, Freda Francis, Eku Edewor, Akunna Nwala, Yvonne Nwosu, Toyin Lawani, Julius Agwu, Rita Dominic, AliBaba, Deejay Jimmy Jatt, Deejay Exclusive, Banky W- the best man, Uti Nwachukwu, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Seyi Shay, Lynxxx, Iyanya, Bisola Dejonwo-Tokan, JoyChico-Ejiro, Tosin Ajibade, Azuka Ogujuiba, Olisa Adibua, Kenny Ogungbe, D1 & Caroline Adeneye, Nikki Laoye & husband, Omawumi Megbele, Waje Iruobe, Princess, Ayo Animashaun, Bukola Akinlagun, Lola Omotayo-Okoye, Fade Ogunro, Owen & Elohor Aisien, Lolu & Linda Sodeinde, Tola Odunsi, Latasha Ngwube, Bridget Awosika, Millen Magesa, Toju Foyeh, Uche Nwadinson, Mo Abudu & Daughter, Ono Bello, Eva Alordiah, Gbemi Phillips,Toke Makinwa, Lami Phillips, Freeze & wife, Kayla Oniwo, Linda Ikeji , Dare Art-Alade, Dr Sid &fiance Simi, Essence, MA, Toolz Oniru, Bukola Tijani, Marshall, ex-beauty queen Anita Iseghohi, Jennifer Obayuwana, former Miss World Agbani Darego, Ros Barbara, D Banj, Don Jazzy, Nicole Chikwe, Layole Oyatogun, Lara Rawa, Mpho Laing, Karen Igho, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Funke Akindele, Aisha Shaba, Ghanaian bombshell Juliet Ibrahim and just too many people too numerous to mention. Till about 9.30 pm when we left the venue some guests were even just arriving. How they made sure there was enough drinks or even food to eat till that late baffles us. The female friends of the couple apparently went all out with their stylist/tailors/designers to do justice to the gold aso-ebi chosen for the occasion and also to outdo each other on the style stake. The number of styles we saw was unbelievable. The only snag at the beautiful event was that Lola Omotayo-Okoye's bag, someone said the same one she used for her own engagement apparently developed wings and just flew away of its own accord. The magician who performed the magical art of stealing it, apparently started using her phone to send out messages afterwards. The security at the event was topnotch, with what we saw if you weren't invited one way or the other it would have been hard to enter into the compound. Apart from about 3 menacing looking, gun-totting soldiers wearing battle regalia at the gate, there were also about 2 groups of private security personnel making sure the uninvited would not gain access into the compound. People had apparently been informed about the no picture policy and so most not wanting to be embarrassed adhered strictly to that. A particular media guy that flouted the order was gathered and thrown out of the gate.
The vendors that served meritoriously at the occasion were the likes of Malas Food, Kemabom Catering, Eventi Cocktails owned by Lara Rawa who supplied fantastic cocktails and liquor shots all through the event, there was also 'I am Cookie Jar' who supplied unbelievable desserts, NEWTON & DAVID like we already made mention did the heavenly decor, also Funmi Victor-Okigbo's the Wedding Company an arm of her No Surprises Event Company did the wedding planning & Coordination.
