MARYAM ONIKIJIPA & ABDULSALAM BELGORE'S WEDDING-welcome to the Nikkai

The first 2 days of the nuptial ceremony was awesome no doubt, first was the bride's eve, then next was the wolimat, both were very colorful events. We didn't know you could have a religious ceremony of this sort and still have much fun an enjoyment. We have never at any point seen so many Islamic clerics as there were at this nuptial before. It wasn't boring at all. Just like the 2 earlier dates, the town poured out in great numbers to catch a glimpse of the days proceedings. There were many top dignitaries from far and wide who came to celebrate with the couple, we saw a few Taiwo Afolabi, Muiz Banire, HRM, Oba Elegushi and his gorgeous wife, we heard Mohammed Babangida came in very briefly though we didn't see him, Shina Peller and very many others.

This 3rd day was the real deal, the couple were going to be joined together in Holy Matrimony (NIKKAI), everyone had planned so much toward this day, it was obvious it was definitely going to be a slam-dunk, but Alas! Very early morning of that great day, the news filtered out that the mother of the groom had bid farewell to the world, bringing a big dampener on the proceedings. Many even thought the whole event was going to be postponed in honor of the dearly departed, who prior to the time had been receiving treatment, before passing on peacefully on the day of her daughter-in-law & son's Nikkai.

After much deliberation on what to do, both families finally agreed to continue with the wedding ceremony and we can tell for a fact without mincing words, it was a great one, though a bit sad. The bride was looking as stunning as ever, though looking very beautiful and well dressed for her great day, you could feel her sadness about losing her mother-in-law, her husband to be was a tower of strength, having to keep his emotions in check, the pain over the sudden demise of his beloved mom would have been excruciating, but the joy of his wedding must have given him a bit of strength. We must commend him for his strength.

The days proceedings went on without hitches, the Husband to be, came in wearing a glorious Agbada ensemble, which had Gold embroidery all over the front part. The gloriously gorgeous bride, had on a white Buba and Iro outfit, wearing very beautiful gold slippers to match and the jewelry was beautiful to behold, coming out with her group of gorgeous friends and family members, she had on a white veil, which was later removed during the ceremony. The Imams conducted the whole ceremony with fabulous precision amidst rains of prayers from all and sundry. It was a beautiful ceremony to behold.

We had everything covered in pictures for your delight. Check it out.
