She’s the Brooklyn, New York native, but her name says it all, she's got Nigerian blood and that in itself ROCKS! The young and already walking in the path of greatness actress is an ivy league graduate of Cornell University, New York, rated top 15 in the 2012 edition of Best Colleges.
Her resume is growing by the day; she has already starred in an award winning short film titled-PARIAH, a contemporary drama film written by Dees Rees. That tells the story of Alike (Adepero Oduye), a 17 year old African-American teenager, embracing her identity as a lesbian. The film premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and bagged the award for Excellence in Cinematography.

Recognitions are coming in gradually- she won ''Best Breakthrough Performance Award'' given by African-American Films Critics Association, the same award she was given by Black Film Critics Circle and she was nominated in the ''Best Female Lead'' category at the Independent Spirit Awards.
And now she is on the cover of the March edition of VANITY FAIR-tagged the Hollywood Issue in great company, Paula Patton (Spouse-Robin Thicke)-Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol, other actresses on the cover were Brit Marling, Rooney Mara, Jennifer Lawrence, Elizabeth Olsen, Felicity Jones, Mia Wasikowska, Lily Collins, Jessica Chastain & Shailene Woodley.
