This year’s edition of Music Meets Runway tagged –ICON EDITION would definitely be an event to remember as music legends, Femi Kuti and 2Face Idibia are set to fire up the stage and thrill Music and Fashion lovers as the models strut on the runway.

Grammy Award nominee, Femi Kuti, son of the Afro-beat king and pioneer, Fela Kuti is one of Nigeria’s biggest exports recognized for his genre of music and collaboration with the world’s best artists- Roy Hargrove, D’Angelo, Nile Rodgers to mention but a few.

Performing alongside Femi Kuti, is multiple award winning (international & local) Afro-pop icon, 2Face Idibia, a songwriter and record producer. The UN Peace ambassador has worked with musical giants such as R. Kelly, Akon, Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige.

This will be the first time both artists will be performing on the Music Meets Runway Platform.

Music Meets Runway has featured notable artists such as D’banj, Wizkid, Davido, Duncan Mighty, K-switch, Burna Boy and this year’s event will be stronger and  bigger as  MMR 2013 presents ICONIC Music Acts on stage.

Meets Runway (MMR) has successfully showcased Nigeria’s talent in the fashion and music industry in the past years and also positioned itself as a brand that fuses Music & Fashion and also provides a platform for recognition.

The very gorgeous wife of Nigeria's best crooner Tuface Idibia, in the person of Annie Idibia is on course for the birth of her 2nd child for her very doting husband. 


Annie is presently on the 9 months course and she's most definitely savouring her state. She released a picture of herself, sweetly cupping and rubbing her baby bump very recently.  Annie is thought to be about 5 month's gone, so by all indications & all things being equal we should expect a new year baby, an Abiodun like the Yoruba's would call such a child.

2 KINGS LIVE IN CONCERT UPCOMING!!!

The D-date is set for Sunday, August 25, 2013. The venue is expansive hall of the convention center at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. The concert would feature the 2 of the only artistes worthy of being referred to as kings. One of them is the Prince of Afro-beats himself, the one and only Femi Anikulapo-Kuti, who with his band, the Positive force would grace the bandstand. Unarguably, Femi is one of the most respected Nigerian/African musicians in the world. Not very many Nigerian musicians have been nominated for the very prestigious 'Grammy Awards'. And Femi has had that privilege.

Set to play alongside Femi on the night at the same concert, is most probably Nigeria's most talented musician of late, who incidentally is also one of the best vocalists from Africa, and that's none other than 2 Baba himself, the one and only Innocent 'Tuface' Idibia. 

Now you would readily agree that these 2 are truly authentic music kings. As we speak there's an on going scramble from would be sponsors, who are willing to be a part of the concert.

 Lagos| Nigeria, 30 April 2013: Fally Ipupa (@fallyipupa01) and Professor (@professorkalawa) are the latest stars to sign up for MTV Africa All Stars KwaZulu-Natal with Snoop Lion, the urban music extravaganza staged by MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) and KwaZulu-Natal Province in Durban.

MTV Africa All Stars KwaZulu-Natal is fast shaping up as the most exciting urban music event of the decade as Fally Ipupa and Professor join previously announced artists Snoop Lion (@SnoopLion), 2Face (@2faceidibia), Flavour (@2niteFlavour) and Zakes Bantwini (@ZakesBantwiniSA) on the bill for the concert.  

The event is being staged at the Moses Mabhida Stadium (@MMStadium), People’s Park, in Durban on 18 May.

Charismatic Congolese star Fally Ipupa, who first made a musical impact with hits like "Eternellement" and "Ko Ko Ko Ko" alongside veteran musician Koffi Olomide, is making a rare trip to South Africa for the All Stars gig.   Ipupamade his mark as a solo artist after the 2006 release of his debut album “Droit Chemin”. His 2009 album “Arsenal de Belles Mélodies” brought him to global attention; thanks to hits like "Chaise Electrique", a bilingual love song featuring former G-Unit vocalist Olivia.  Blending a silky smooth voice with a range of music genres from soukousto ndombolo, pop and R&B, Ipupahas won legions of fans and music industry accolades. In 2010 he took home two MTV Africa Music Awards, one for Best Video ("Sexy Dance" featuring Krys) and another for Best Francophone Artist.  Ipuparecently announced that he has been signed to Universal Music France for a 3-album deal – a significant endorsement for the DRC-based singer.

Well known for his jaw-dropping beats and catchy lyrics, Durban native and South African kwaito guru Professor hit the headlines withhis first solo album “University of Kalawa Jazmee”, thanks to hypnotic hits such as “Jezebel”, “Lento” and “Jimaphi” which filled club dance-floors and dominated the radio airwaves across South Africa. Recognition of his talents came at the 2011 MTN South African Music Awards, where he won Best Kwaito Album, Best Male & Record of the Year, and Professor has since been making more waves thanks to the success of his second album, “Orientation”. 

For an awesome preview of what to expect at MTV Africa All Stars, check out the highlights of the MTV Africa All Stars, airing on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) from 10 May.   Featuring high octane performances from Africa’s biggest live performers, the series takes us on an urban music odyssey from Durban (10th May @ 16.00 CAT) to Nairobi (17 May @ 16.00 CAT), before winding tour up in Lagos (24th May @ 16.00 CAT).

More than 10,000 people are expected to enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime concert as Snoop Lion aka Snoop Dogg, the legendary hip hop icon turned reggae superstar, performs his greatest hits interspersed with his new, “Reincarnated”reggae-flavoured repertoire.

Now when I was just starting life, I used to know Annie as a small girl who shared a room at the BQ in the house where I used to go play games in a suburb in Lagos. I did not really know her then, but when she gained celebrity status, my then friend pointed it out.

Tuface has over the years ruled my heart. His humility, passion and talent all have combined to create an artiste that has achieved what I would call the artistic trinity. By this I mean you will find in his works, inspiration from the great Fela, the inspirational Bob Marley and the genius of Majek Fashek.

I first had a taste of his raw talent at the defunct French Cultural Centre. As a poor young man, I used to go with my wife Mofoluwake to go watch free shows. This particular evening, a young good looking boy snuck on stage and did one Bob Marley number and disappeared into the night. The performance was mesmerising and I told my wife to watch out for that guy.

The next time I saw him was at my Egbon's studio. The world famous Keke Ogungbe and I remember telling Egbon to sign this guy o.

But today, my story is on his courage. His ability to choose one out of the three or is it 4 women who have children for him. I cannot wait for his return from his fairytale wedding to ask him the following questions:

Was it the cooking, was it the sex, was it the colour, was it ayiri or was it Governor Akpabio that gave Annie the edge over the others.

These are very pertinent questions that could save our democracy and Tuface owes us the answers.

Finally, I am in strong support of Governor Akpabio's kind gesture towards the couple. Annie by this action has shown that Akwa Ibom women are not only beautiful, but are very patient. They would in every circumstance eagerly share their hubby with the rest of the world because of the innate confidence they have in their love making abilities. The men, once they taste Calabar and Akwa Ibom soup, always come back no matter the amount of stew our Yoruba sisters feed them with. They come rushing back with pile. Ask Alibaba.

My only grouse is that, Our wonderful Governor should have at least repaired the road leading to Annie's village and rename it after her as part of the wedding largess.

Flying to Dubai in luxury in the first class cabin of Emirates Airline most likely, luxuriating in one of the best rooms available at one of the few 6-stars hotels in the world. Having as son, one of the best musicians to come out of Nigeria and by extension Africa. And that son marrying at one of the 7-wonders of the world destinations.

It has been tagged the wedding of the year already and truth be told, we agree 200%. The couple and their support system really went a long mile to make sure, many who made it to Dubai would remember the event for a long time to come. 

Now any star or celebrity that wants to wed, had better get their acts right. It's either to do a quiet wedding 'delibrately' or go all out by looking for sponsors to go all the way. The ante has been raised and it would take very much to meet or match now. The only other wedding on this caliber would be the Stephanie weds Linus Idahosa in Paris, France. 

We were able to source some more pictures of those at the wedding for your viewing delight. Our visa for Dubai only just arrived this morning. So we missed out on all the fun and excitement. Nevertheless, here are a few more pictures. Sorry about that the pictures are not the best, that's because we weren't on ground to take the pictures.
