IS JIMI AGBAJE THE MAN FOR THE JOB?

The question above is the billion Naira one that everyone, most especially in Lagos would love to get an answer to. From the body language of the gentleman Pharmacist, it is obvious he would be sticking out his neck once again to vie for the governorship of the state that is the financial & entertainment capital of Nigeria come 2015. He did before in 2007 but lost gallantly.


To actualize his dream of turning around the fortunes of Lagosians (both those from Lagos & other ethnic nationalities), underground work is currently going on. From the little we know as at now, foot soldiers are already coming together to help put together a proper manifesto & formidable team that would help to wrestle power away from the hands of the ruling party in Lagos formerly ACN but now transformed to APC, where the Asiwaju General Bola Ahmed Tinubu reigns supreme.

From what we can perceive, the JayKay for Governor team are already doing their best to look at all the angles through which they feel the main party might want to outmaneuver all others. They have gotten together some very passionate few, who are totally sold out on the ideology of Mr. Jimi Agbaje. 

There's the very strong belief in that camp that Jimi Agbaje did far better than many people thought he did at the last election in 2007, that if not for the unexpected masterstroke that they felt was played by the ACN in active connivance with INEC in Lagos; when they made sure that only Jimi Agbaje's picture didn't appear on the ballot paper on the day of election, they are of the opinion that much more votes would have been gotten from those who would have recognized his picture, and he would have been voted for and most probably would have won the election.

To his faithfuls, they strongly believe that there's a need for change in Lagos, they believe that the ACN/APC have exhausted all their ideas and that they have nothing new to offer. They also believe that the most credible candidate of all, from any of the parties either APC, PDP, UPN, Labour Party etc is their man- Jimi Agbaje.They even point to the fact that the good performance of Jimi Agbaje at the last election, shows that he has a big chance, pointing to the fact that he posted a good result though he ran on a party-(Democratic People's Alliance-DPA) that wasn't that well known. 

In preparation for 2015, the Agbaje team have been doing their best to sensitize everyone, sending out their thoughts via the social media platforms, on what and how they feel about things and what they believe Jimi Agbaje would do, were he to become the next Governor of Lagos. Many celebrities have joined and are still joining the growing team Jaykay, some of those who have come out openly to show their support are the likes of Nollywood top acts Desmond Elliot, Joseph Benjamin, Alex Okoroji, Gbenro Ajibade, Shan George, Bayo Bankole, Yemi Blaq, Wale Adebayo (Sango), Femi Brainard, Femi Branch, Ayo Mogaji and a couple of others. 

Unconfirmed report says that the most likely party through which the renowned pharmacist hopes to prosecute his ambition is the growing Labour Party, where the most visible person in the party is Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, the Executive Governor of Ondo State; another top personality in the party is Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele, former ACN party stalwart in Ekiti, who recently dumped his former party and moved over to the Labour Party in preparation for the upcoming Ekiti State Gubernatorial election sometime in 2014. 

From the feelers we have gotten, there's the likelihood that what has happened in recent times in Ondo & Anambra State might be the plan for Lagos State too. By that we mean, a scenario where the PDP, knowing they do not have a strong enough candidate to run on their party for the post, might work in support of Jimi Kolawole Agbaje, just so that APC would be ousted. So it's most likely going to be a hand of Esau, voice of Jacob kind of thing. Major financial & other kind of support is expected powerfully from the center. It's now like Asiwaju must be shipped out at all cost thing. 

Whoever would emerge as the candidates of the other parties, especially that of the APC would determine a lot of things especially where the voters support would sway. If the APC makes the terrible mistake of choosing an unpopular candidate, it would most likely be catastrophic, so they had better be careful. 

So the next election in 2015 is most definitely going to be very interesting and would be a hard fought one no doubt.  

The man Joseph Olujimi Kolawole Agbaje, is a trained Pharmacist, who graduated from the famous Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, formerly University of Ife. He is the CEO/MD of Jaykay Pharmaceutical & Chemical Company Ltd. He is also a director of many other blue chip companies and one of the brothers of the MD of GTbank Plc, the highly cerebral Mr. Segun Agbaje. It is obvious from the foregoing that he also has the financial muscle to support his aspiration.

OBASANJO VS BURUJI KASHAMU FIGHT REARS UP IT UGLY HEAD AGAIN AS OBASANJO WITHDRAWS FROM PDP

For cozying up to Ogun State PDP strong man Buruji Kashamu, whom the retired General has accused as being a drug baron, the former President of Nigeria (1999 to 2007), Chief Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo has withdrawn his activities in protest from the beleaguered ruling party in Nigeria- the Peoples Democratic Party. 


At a point in time when all was supposedly good, the two we heard were able to manage themselves and work together. And with another letter bomb coming from the General now becoming very renowned for writing monumental letters, he has announced his withdrawal from a party he helped build to become a colossus that it became, though fast disintegrating now.
 
One of the reasons given by the ex-president for his withdrawal from all activities of the party is because of the chaotic way the party is being run in the south-west geopolitical zone and especially because of how he perceives that someone whom he alleges is a criminal fugitive from the law is being venerated and even made the coordinator of the southwest zone of the PDP.  

Hear him ''While I believe that a good and truly national political party must be a microcosm of the nation in its membership, made up of all sorts of characters from near-saints to near -Satan, I also believe that on no account should a known habitual criminal that is wanted abroad to face criminal charges leveled against him be extolled as a political leader in a respectable and wholesome nation-building political party. Chief Obasanjo this time around, also attached to his 3-paragraph letter, documents/evidence to back up his allegations.

Though Chief Obasanjo says he remains a card carrying member of the PDP, he has withdrawn his activities from the party at both state & national level. 

Would this withdrawal further affect the fortunes of the PDP in his state and nationally? We would get to find out over the course of the weeks and months as things unfolds.

The fine boy controversial General overseer of the Household of God church, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, who seem to have become a perennial Presidential aspirant we hear is set to contest again come 2015.

The very wealthy man of God, who is also a well acknowledged philanthropist, by virtue of his annual intervention known to all as Karis Awards, which seeks to recognize and financially reward Nigerian citizens, who had served their country selflessly, is said to have made known his plans very recently. 

The 55 year old very flamboyant pastor, televangelist & author, a noted orator at that (born June 16, 1958), who in the last quarter of 2013 celebrated his 27 years as a pastor and 30 years as a born again christian by buying 2 very impressive & expensive luxury cars said to be valued at not less than N110 million  (Rolls Royce 2014 bespoke Phantom coupe series II & a Range Rover Autobiography), if he does run for the election would be making it the 3rd time, he would be doing so. 

The twice divorced, multimillionaire pastor (Forbes rated as one of the top 5 richest Nigerian pastors) has contested severally for the highest office in the land since 2003.  The first time he contested was as the presidential aspirant of the then Justice Party of Nigeria, and he was one of those that lost to Chief Olusegun Aremu Okikiola Obasanjo, when the retired General ran for his 2nd term in office. He later on moved to another party, National Democratic Party, also as the presidential aspirant of that party, it was from this party that he set up his own political party, Fresh Democratic Party, the party he represented as the presidential aspirant against the now late Alhaji Umaru Yar'Adua, who he against lost to at the 2007 elections. He did not participate at the 2011 elections against the present commander-in-chief, Dr. Goodluck Azikwe Ebele Jonathan. 

According to the very well spoken man of God, his bid to rule the most populated black nation on earth-Nigeria, is according to a divine mandate from the God of Creation. Apparently, this divine mandate from God is what has continually fueled his desire and that has made him a serial presidential candidate. So until this divine mandate is fulfilled, we would most probably be seeing the super cars loving pastor contesting for a long while.

A bit about his resume, the former top Nigerian pop star of the 80s, attended the renowned Edo College, Benin City, Edo state for his secondary school education, he thereafter went to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu state, where he graduated with a degree in law. It was while he was at the law school that he embraced Christ and thereafter went to Grace Fellowship Bible School, for his pastoral training and thereafter set up the Household of God Church. 

Let's just hope that this would be a 3rd time lucky for our beloved but controversial man of God. One is just curious to ask the question, whether the very large Catholic follower-ship would vote for him, who he is reported to have said are all hell bound and their head the Anti-Christ would vote for him, since we all know that election basically is a game of numbers. So we await 2015 with bated breath. 

Is Pastor Kris Okotie the God anointed leader that we have all been waiting for? 2015 is just around the corner.

Anambra State, also known as ''the Light of the Nation'' where Governor Peter Obi reigns supreme as we speak as the action Governor, is gradually getting ready for what some have tagged- a battle royale. 

Now that Governor Peter Obi has successfully done 2 terms, meaning he cannot run again, the coast is now open for such heavyweight combatants the likes of the following-

Billionaire Senator and man of great influence- who tasted what it was like to be a Governor sometime back for just a few days, in the person of beleaguered Senator Emmanuel Nnamdi Uba, 54, but better known as Andy Uba who is currently the Senator representing Anambra South Federal constituency.  For now the powerful & highly connected Senator, is battling to be chosen as the candidate of his party the PDP. There had been a parallel congress at the PDP primary a while back, which had produced 2 candidiates from the party. While the PDP machinery supports the other candidiate, in the person of Comrade Tony Nwoye. INEC on the other hand seems to support the PDP faction that produced Andy Uba.

So would Andy Uba be able to fulfill his ambition as a PDP Candidate? Or would he be leaving again to another party, to vie for the election into the office of the Governorship of Abia State? In days to come we would soon have our answers. One thing we can confidently say for all to hear is that, he is a formidable opponent for all comers.

Another Billionaire & a great friend of the people, vying for the same office is the one and only Oil & Gas magnate, Ifeanyi Ubah, 41, who owns Capital Oil & Gas Ltd. The controversial business man who is battling all sorts (AMCON, EFCC etc) on many fronts is seen as an opponent to fear. As at the last check, what we heard is that the very liquid man's prized jewel, Capital Oil & Gas has been taken over by AMCON (The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria). Whether this would affect his chances is yet to be seen. One thing we can tell everyone for free is that, he has been traversing all the nooks & crannies of his beloved state, explaining his plans to his people & dolling out colossal amount of money & gifts of all kinds to those that counts. Not just that his adverts is always on TV & Radio every day espousing his virtues and telling all and sundry his plans for the transformation of Anambra. He is running under the flag of the Labour Party. Would he succeed? We are waiting & watching.

Also on the list is another very experienced & worthy combatant, in the person of former Governor and now a Senator, in the person of Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige. What is majorly going for the well loved Doctor, is his seeming very good past records. According to those who should know, they said he worked very hard while he was in charge of the State a few years back. He is said to have give a good account of himself in his first missionary journey. And that is really counting well for him now. 

Though he might not be as colossally rich as his 2 other opponents, he has the formidable support of his party, the new mega party- APC behind his ambition. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a chieftain of his party & others would want to do anything to gain a foothold properly in the East. So money wouldn't be any problem whatsoever. 

Also on the list is the candidate or should we say the ruling Governor's preferred candidate to continue his meritorious works. And that person is none other than Chief Willie O. Obiano. Chief Willie is not as known as the other 3, but that doesn't take anything away from him. He is the flagbearer of the ruling party, which is the APGA. He was formerly an Executive Director at Fidelity Bank Plc, where the current Governor had substantial holdings at a time and was even Chairman. 

He, Chief Willie Obiano, is a well learned man & has done meritoriously well in his career in private services. We believe, he is as financially capable as the other combatants also, especially with the backing of the incumbent. But it's not just a smooth sweet sailing for Chief Willie Obiano in the APGA like it should be. A faction of the party has brought forth another candidate of their own in the person of Industrialist Dr. Chike Obidigbo JP. An Enugu based Industrialist & Philanthropist. The very well-heeled gentleman, is the Chairman of Hardis & Dromedas Ltd

Some other names that have cropped up, but not as prominently as these 4 are the likes of Charles Soludo, a former CBN Governor and formerly a member of PDP before cross carpeting to APGA, where he might have failed in his ambition again to contest the Gubernatorial election.

We are totally loving the fact that some people are not seating on their high horses expecting miracles to happen or that others should do something. One of those who has thought to put his money where his mouth is, is none other than the very rich businessman from the illustrious Prest family from Warri,  Delta state in the person of Chief Anthony Tosan Prest. 


When people like him, who have the resources, wherewithal & connection (money wise & with great influence) would decide to stand for the welfare of his people, then we welcome such development with open hands and joy in our heart. We are loving the current campaign by Chief Tony Prest to recruit able volunteers towards his ambition to help change the fortune of his beloved people of Delta State. 

He has pitched his tent with the ruling party in the state which is the PDP and if all works out we might just be referring to the astute entrepreneur after the next election as His Excellency, Governor Anthony Tosan Prest. 

Chief Tony Prest is related to the former Miss Nigeria 1979, in the person of Helen Prest Ajayi, who is his niece, while his nephew is Mr. Michael Prest, a very very rich, oil tycoon director of Petrodel Group who not too long ago lost a landmark divorce case instituted against him by his ex-wife, where he had to pay the lady a whopping £17.5 million Pounds in settlement.

IS BABATUNDE GBADAMOSI PDP ANSWER TO LAGOS STATE

Many are of the opinion that the next election into the Alausa Government house is still a long way away. While those who know very well what time it is are already preparing themselves for the battle ahead. We had written in our earlier post about the likely personalities from the ACN that would vie for the post to take over from Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola. 


Now we are shifting our attention to the most prominent of the oppositions in Lagos. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). And from our little findings, 3 prominent names have cropped up. First one is that of Dr Ade Dosunmu, who represented the party at the last election and was obliterated by Governor Fashola. The gap was so much that it was too good to be true. We hear he is still very keen on trying his might again, probably lesson has been learnt and he is now better prepared for the battle. 

The other name that has been receiving prominence is that of Jay Kay, that is what many call the great pharmacist Joseph Olujimi Kolawole Agbaje, better known as Jimi Agbaje. He too had also tried unsuccessfully to rule Lagos, but he couldn't get his former party's nomination then. A result of which has made him to cross carpet. And he now wants to try his luck with the PDP. We hear he his being favorably considered.

The last but not the least amongst the trio is Mr. Babatunde Gbademosi, a known social commentator, who used to live in the UK before, but returned home a while back to see how he can contribute his own quota into the development of his beloved Lagos. He is the proud owner of the AMEN Estate around the Lekki area of Lagos. A successful man in many ramifications. He has taken a plunge into the 'supposed' murky waters of politics in Lagos, Nigeria. One hopes he wouldn't come out of it stained. A few times we have heard him talk, he has impressed admirably.

But, is he strong enough to give the other 2 a run for their money?

If he is selected, nominated or chosen to represent his party? Can he give the other party's candidate a good fight?

Does he even have the so called ''pedigree'' to rule a state like Lagos?

What does he have to offer? 

Many questions just keep popping up! 2015 ain't going to be easy oooooooooooo. PDP would have the greatest & biggest party (celebration) in the world, if they can win Lagos.

A DIVIDED HOUSE PLAYING OUT IN EKITI STATE. KAYODE FAYEMI VS OPEYEMI BAMIDELE

It seems like a drama of the absurd kind is gradually playing itself out in Ekiti State. And if the situation is not nipped in the bud, it might not augur very well for the ruling party ACN in the state. From all indications it is what the opposition wants and they are quietly praying there's no resolution. They must be laughing their heads off right now.

The battle royale quietly playing out is between the incumbent action Governor, who truly has transformed governance in his state Ekiti, he has brought his intellectual capacity to fore in Ekiti in all areas, making sure to touch every area of his State. This seems to have endeared him to his people and even his party seem mesmerized by his work rate and all he has done, so there is the clamour for him to consolidate and go for a second term. On the other side of this battle royale, is a former Commissioner for Information in Lagos State, now a Honourable member of the House of Representatives, in the person of Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele: Who is a strong ACN party stalwart in Ekiti state. He is also said to have the ambition to become the next Governor of Ekiti State. His clamour to rule Ekiti we hear is based on an agreement that the incumbent would run for one term only and then make way.

That seeming agreement is where the dilemma has now come in. The elders of the party, led by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, seeing all that Governor Fayemi has achieved seem to have resolved to allow him do another term, especially knowing that, that would be a strong reason the electorate would give him another win for a 2nd term. They in all their wisdom had expected that they could prevail on Hon. Bamidele to jettison his personal ambition for the good of the party.

But to the surprise of all, their wisdom seem to have failed them this time around. Most especially as Hon. Bamidele has not capitulated at all and has insisted that he would be contesting the next election against the incumbent.

2 scenarios are already playing out now. It's either Hon. Bamidele would stick to is gun and contest and thereby divide the support that should carry the incumbent to victory. The only option that would be left for the former Commissioner would be for him to dump his beloved party and join the opposition, so as to fulfill his ambition. This scenario might not augur well for his party as that would mean a divided house.

But should common sense somehow prevail, Hon. Bamidele would push his ambition to another season and then still keep the party intact. Any which way, there's already discord sown and that's not good for the party at all.

The likes of the former Governor Ayo Fayose in the opposition, who is hell bent on coming back as the Governor of the state, and others in the opposition would most definitely be having a good laugh right now, and we can bet that they would make sure to play on the discord and if they can do it well, it might work to their advantage. 



 ACN needs to put her house in order and fast fast. A stitch in time, they say saves Nine. It would be sad anyway, if the highly cerebral Governor Kayode Fayemi is not allowed to finish the revolution he has started in Ekiti State. The days of anyhow politics seem to have ceased and no one would pray for it to come back again in a state like Ekiti.

NAMA (FG) VS. ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE- WHAT'S GOING ON?

 The Nigerian Aviation Management Agency (NAMA), yesterday, recalled and grounded an airborne OAS Helicopter ferrying Governor Adams Oshiomhole to Awka, Anambra State for the funeral service of the late Mrs. Colette Obi, wife of Senator Ben Obi, Special Adviser, Political Matters to the President.

Pilot of the helicopter, Captain James Manahash, a Filipino, said "I was surprised that I was recalled after taking-off from Government House because I had communicated with the control tower on radio.

"We were already airborne when we got the call to return to the airport and was even threatened that failure to do so would lead to complete grounding of the aircraft. The governor prevailed on me to return and listen to them.

"When we got back to the airport, I was told to pay landing and aerodrome fees which ordinary we could pay later because we were already airborne.

"Even after completion of the process of payment within 10 minutes, we were still delayed for one hour fifteen minutes. The Governor left in anger after that.

"I am surprised by this development because this is not the first time I would be coming to Benin to fly the governor.

"I was even threatened, after payment, that the aircraft will be grounded completely if I argued with them. I have flown for 35 years, seven of which I spent in Nigeria and this is the first time I am encountering a situation like this. I do not know what problem they have with the governor.”

Managing Director of the OAS Helicopters, Mr Everest Nnaji, who was contacted, expressed shock over the incident, saying that “I am still making calls to find out exactly why they did not allow the pilot fly the helicopter conveying the governor to Anambra state. I am really angry, I don’t know why they did that and that is why I am still trying to make contact because we have no problems with NAMA.
