FORMER CHIEF OF GENERAL STAFF, ONDO & LAGOS MILITARY GOVERNOR VICE ADMIRAL MIKE AKHIGBE HAS PASSED ON

THE LATE ADMIRAL

We commiserate with the families, associates & friends of the former Governor of Ondo & Lagos State, who later became the deputy or better put the Vice President to the then Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar during the military rule between 1998 & 1999, in the person of Retired Vice Admiral Mike Okhai Akhigbe, who sadly passed on to the great beyond age 68 at the weekend in London. 

The former Chief of  Naval Staff, is said to have had a long battle with cancer, before finally succumbing to the cold hands of death this weekend. 

After his retirement, he had gone on to read law, becoming an attorney and had ran his own law firm, specializing in maritime & real estate law.  He is said to have had a substantial investment in real estate. 

He is survived by his wife & children. May the soul of the dearly departed rest in peace.

ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU RECUPERATES AFTER SUCCESSFUL OPERATION

The national leader of the former opposition party ACN (Action Congress of Nigeria) now a part of APC (All Progressives Congress), the formidable warrior known to most as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is recuperating as we speak in America after a very successful knee cap operation (SURGERY). 

Asiwaju had decided to come sort out the nagging knee ailment a couple of weeks ago in America, so that he can get ready for the many battles ahead on the political arena. From our findings, the warrior politician didn't want anything including ill health to disturb as the next series of party elections are set to begin with Ekiti State & from then on its one election after the other. 

The Knee cap surgery which is said to be one of the most delicate operations performed by doctors, was successfully carried out at an American Hospital only 3 days ago. So as we speak the former action Governor of the State of Aquatic excellence- Lagos is convalescing and getting ready for the days ahead. 

Even as we speak some of his associates or should we say foot soldiers have been visiting him in America to show solidarity with their leader as he regains his strength. One of those said to have visited him is the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, in the person of RT. Honourable  Adeyemi Ikuforiji.

GBEMI SHASORE GETTING SET FOR LONDON CELEBRATION

Come August 10, 2013 in faraway London, precisely at the luxury 5-star Mayfair hotel, known to all as the Dorchester Hotel, on Park Lane, friends, family members, associates of Mrs Gbemi Shasore, the gorgeous wife of the former Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State 2007-2011, Olasupo Shasore SAN would converge as they would be celebrating madam clocking 50. Expectedly many from the Lagos Cabinet would grace the occasion.

50 is a significant age, it is a number that denotes jubilee-a season or an occasion of joyful celebration. So for Gbemi Shasore it's a special year of rejoicing. No wonder the choice of the iconic venue, which is acclaimed as occupying the most prestigious acre and half of real estate in the world in the heart of Mayfair overlooking the Hyde Park. This was the preferred hotel of the Queen of England for hosting some events in days gone by.

We especially love the invitation card we saw. The big envelope is an indigo affair and it had 2 cards in it, a big card & a much smaller one. Both gives the whole info about the event, we particularly loved the smaller more lively card which says-  Production- Gbemi Five-O, Director- Gbemi Shasore, Date- 10:08:13, Take- 50 and ends with Scene- Party scene at the Dorchester. Cocktails- 6.30PM, Dinner-8.00PM, Theme- The Oscar's, Dress-code- A-list glamourous, Dancing-Compulsory. 

So from all indications, it is planned as a high octane, very exclusive celebration, in the mold of the best of Hollywood glam. So on the event date guests are expected at 6.30PM for the cocktail gathering, before dinner would start at 8PM, the invited guests are expected to come through entrance 53, on Park Lane. 

Mrs. Gbemi Shasore, is a well known & well respected event management consultant, also the past president of the International Women Society (IWS). We can testify to the fact that she's one of the 'world's nicest human being' we have ever come across, very accommodating and with a good heart. So as she clocks 50, we are one of those very happy ones who is mighty glad to celebrate her to the high heavens. We pray that God would just continually bless her & add more grace to her life.

IS BABATUNDE GBADAMOSI PDP ANSWER TO LAGOS STATE

BABATUNDE GBADAMOSI

Many are of the opinion that the next election into the Alausa Government house is still a long way away. While those who know very well what time it is are already preparing themselves for the battle ahead. We had written in our earlier post about the likely personalities from the ACN that would vie for the post to take over from Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola. 


Now we are shifting our attention to the most prominent of the oppositions in Lagos. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). And from our little findings, 3 prominent names have cropped up. First one is that of Dr Ade Dosunmu, who represented the party at the last election and was obliterated by Governor Fashola. The gap was so much that it was too good to be true. We hear he is still very keen on trying his might again, probably lesson has been learnt and he is now better prepared for the battle. 

The other name that has been receiving prominence is that of Jay Kay, that is what many call the great pharmacist Joseph Olujimi Kolawole Agbaje, better known as Jimi Agbaje. He too had also tried unsuccessfully to rule Lagos, but he couldn't get his former party's nomination then. A result of which has made him to cross carpet. And he now wants to try his luck with the PDP. We hear he his being favorably considered.

The last but not the least amongst the trio is Mr. Babatunde Gbademosi, a known social commentator, who used to live in the UK before, but returned home a while back to see how he can contribute his own quota into the development of his beloved Lagos. He is the proud owner of the AMEN Estate around the Lekki area of Lagos. A successful man in many ramifications. He has taken a plunge into the 'supposed' murky waters of politics in Lagos, Nigeria. One hopes he wouldn't come out of it stained. A few times we have heard him talk, he has impressed admirably.

But, is he strong enough to give the other 2 a run for their money?

If he is selected, nominated or chosen to represent his party? Can he give the other party's candidate a good fight?

Does he even have the so called ''pedigree'' to rule a state like Lagos?

What does he have to offer? 

Many questions just keep popping up! 2015 ain't going to be easy oooooooooooo. PDP would have the greatest & biggest party (celebration) in the world, if they can win Lagos.

LAGOS HOUSE SPEAKER'S ROCK OF GIBRALTAR

It has not been the best of times, for the Honorable Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly-Hon Adeyemi Ikuforoji, what with the 54 count of money laundering case involving the sum of #773.3 million Naira,  he and his PA has been beset with courtesy the EFCC. The case has been dragging on for quite a while now and we can bet it is disturbing to a very large extent the ambition of the Speaker to vie for the post of the Executive Governor of the State of Excellence come the next election into the Alausa State house. 

At the most recent court hearing on the case, the speaker & his assistant -Oyebode Atoyebi  were granted bail in the colossal sum of #1 Billion Naira each, many had thought that amount was too humongous as a bail and had thought that the speaker and his PA might find it hard to meet the bail condition. Though for a day they couldn't: As the speaker & PA had to rest in the very comfortable enclave of the EFCC for a day. A few of his very liquid friends took it upon themselves to stand sureties for their good friends. The rock of Gibraltar in this particular write-up is a metaphor that refers to those very few, who have stood as rock of support & confidence for their friend in the face of a seemingly insurmountable mountain (# 1billion Naira each). 

Check out the role call of Sureties for the Speaker. Each of the sureties were in the sum of #500 Million Naira each- Alhaji Taiwo Oludayo, Proprietor of Oludayo International Agency. Who owns a landed property at Kofo Abayomi Avenue, Apapa, Lagos. 

Mr. Adeyemo Abdul-Yekini. Who owns a landed property at Block......Isheri North Residential Scheme in Kosofe.

The embattled speaker's PA-Oyebode Atoyebi was also not left out. He too also perfected his bail application. Thanks to the magnanimity of Chief Hammed Dosunmu, the MD of Williams & Co. Can the speaker still vie for the Governorship seat, with this case still hanging on his neck like an albatross? Time will tell, let's wait and see.

The case meanwhile has been adjourned till September 25, 2013 for trial proper.

FIRE OUTBREAK AT THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR'S HOUSE

The official residence of her Excellency, the Deputy Governor of the State of Aquatic Excellence, Lagos State, Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire caught fire last night. The cause of the fire at the house located at Osborne Road, Ikoyi, Lagos we hear was an electrical surge. The fire outbreak, was later put under control by the gallant men of NEMA(National Emergency Management Agency) was said to have caused some extensive damages.

Thank God no one was hurt in the fire incidence and thank God for the quick response of the men of NEMA.
