 If you are a regular on the Island, by Island we mean Victoria Island in Lagos, Nigeria, there's the possibility that you would have seen this mighty all glass & aluminum composite-cladded edifice that dots the Victoria Island skyline magnificently. From the Akin Adesola end, once you are in front of the Porsche franchise and you look up, it stares back at you in glory and splendor. That's the new 5-star hotel that is gradually grinding towards its opening date. It is planned to be world-class, in all ways that you can think about, there is the extended terrace and there would be the world-class luxury showrooms inside the hotel when it is done.

If we can call a building gorgeous at least from the outside, then this one is. Not only is it imposing and very eye-catching, that the promoters were able to get the location to build the hotel called - the Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos must mean that they are very powerful and highly connected. Talking about the promoters, many names are being bandied, but the main ones that have re-occurred most often- are the likes of the Chagoury's, a former , highly influential Governor in the state of aquatic excellence, who is still a top party chieftain and a former 2nd-in-command in the Nation from the Northern part of the country, who is said to be stupendously rich.

From the unconfirmed feelers we have gotten, the ownership of what we feel is Nigeria's 2nd authentic 5-star hotel seems to tilt towards the last 2. We hear all things being equal; the hotel should be on the go before the end of the year.

BUNMI OYENIYI GETS SET TO LAUNCH UNVEIL MUP

The gorgeous lady behind the Unveil brand- Bunmi Oyeniyi is getting set to take over the market again. She did it several years ago when she launched what has come to be known in the market as the best brushes for makeover artists. Many still testifies to that fact that the Unveil make-up brushes has no rival in the market. 

Not long after that success, the well-known make-over artist, who we hear is one of the top 5 in the industry, had another first, she opened a Government approved vocational studies School, where students are taught the art of make-up artistry, etiquette and elocution amongst the several courses of study. The school- The Unveil Institute, which is about a year and a half old, as done extremely well. Helping to set many on the path of entrepreneurship and glorious success. 

Moving on from all that, Bunmi we hear is set to launch into the market, her own exclusive make-up products. The range is called Unveil MUP; the MUP refers to make-up products. It took the whole of 3 years of research and hard work to get to this point from what we have gathered, to make sure that the quality of the products are not short-changed, the MD of Unveil had to travel from China, to the UK and to the US, testing many products, wanting to make sure the products are of the highest standards and good for all skin-types. Until finally the best choice of manufacturers were found in the US. It is the same company that produces for some of the best brands in the market, known by all. 

So come the end of June 2012 at a venue in Ikeja, Lagos. The new entrant into the make-up industry- UNVEIL MUP would be launched to a lot of fanfare. In the range are about 40 different shades of ''smackers'' that's lipsticks, there are about 13 shades of ''Glaze of Lights'' which is the name for the lip-glosses, 52 shades of ''Eye Silhouettes'' that’s eye shadows, over 13 shades of ''Cheek Glow'' which is the name for their blushers, 5 shades of ''Smog'' another name for foundations, powders are called ''Face Glow'' and they come in 3 shades, the high definition Mascara's come in 2 colours, the lip-definer another name for lip pencil comes in 12 colours and lastly the ''Eye Intensifier'' which is the inner eye rim pencil comes in 10 different colours, not forgetting the brow pencil.

All the products come in very exotic and playful colours named after admirable things we have come to love.

KIM KARDASHIAN GETS A LAMBORGHINI AVENTADO

Eat your heart out; Kim K seems to be saying. The fantastically shaped reality TV Queen/ entrepreneur and the current flame of G.O.O.D Music mogul- Kanye West, a few days ago took delivery of a jet-black, stunning looking 2012 Lamborghini Aventador. The Jet plane on 4-wheels does 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 350km/h.  The car is named after a legendary bull that entered into the arena in 2003 and got salutes for his courage. The ‘machine’ is valued at about $400,000.

Kimberly Noel Kardashian better known by all as Kim Kardashian or Kim K, already had before this Lamborghini Aventador,  a very intimidating garage.  Check this out, in that garage is a jet black Bentley GTC Continental, a white Rolls Royce Ghost, a white Range Rover Vogue and at a point she was seen cruising around in a Ferrari F430, which some said belonged to her former boyfriend (Reggie). She has also been seen driving Kanye’s Mercedes McLaren Supercar a couple of times.

This is most definitely how to live the good life.

OBAMA COVERS JULY EDITION OF ESSENCE MAGAZINE

We are waiting for the day and we are sure it would be an exciting one at that. When we would see the President of Nigeria and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces on the cover of either Genevieve Magazine or TW Magazine or Complete Fashion Magazine etc. Not necessarily the covers of the hard-sell journals, which is normal.

But we doubt that it might happen, especially with the way things are going now. It might be a hard-sell. But nothing is impossible, like they say 'Never say, Never'.

EXQUISITE MAGAZINE'S 50TH ISSUE PARTY

One of the most consistent lifestyle magazine in the country-Exquisite Magazine owned by Tewa Onasanya recently celebrated hitting the 50th issue mark. The party was at a very posh venue, Trends on Remi Olowude Street, Oceanside, Lekki Phase 1 on the Island. And to tell you all the truth, it was groove control from the start till we left. One of the best Whisky brands in the world- Jack Daniel's was the liquor of choice at the event and there was more than enough to drink. The very impressive deejay, rocked the house in no small measure, as he dropped a medley of hits after hits to everyone's delight, and you all can just imagine what happens where there is good music.
