DOTUN OJUOLAPE HOOKS TAIWO OYEBANJO

DOTUN & TAIWO

TAIWO

Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode AKA DotunCoolFM is an OAP with the award winning Radio Station Cool FM, while Taiwo is the younger sibling of both D Banj & K Switch, we need not introduce the duo to you all.

It was a swell time & a great gathering at the engagement ceremony (some call it traditional wedding ceremony) yesterday in Ogun State. Venue was the Remo Majestic Hotel in Sagamu, where the Oyebanjo's are from.

It was cool runnings all the way, knowing how good the Yorubas are at pulling off great events. Next weekend, August 5, 2013 is set for the grand white-wedding. We expect that to be a spectacle.

Congratulations to the couple.

ALL HAIL THE HIP OF LIFE ON JOSELYN 'THE BODY' DUMAS

This 32 year old mama jammer, mother of one's body is the stuff legend is written about oooooo. A good friend classified one of her fine feature-the hips of life. And we agree 200%, but we go further by saying this hips don't lie. This most definitely is what Shakira must have seen & sung about.

One must really commend Joselyn for keeping this shape sharp after coming from a colossal 320 Pounds (145.15kg) to what she weighs presently.

All hail JD Hips.

OUR DEAREST ADUKE IS 42 TODAY....HIP HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!!!!!

She has been described in many ways, some call her amazon, some have referred to her as one of the brightest minds of the nation. She's gorgeous, very VERY stylish, wonderfully humane, caring, very loving mother of one (the brilliant Morenikeji). A celebrated journalist/broadcaster (former talk show hostess). A sister to many, an inspiration to countless. Our own dear friend. The Chief witch like some very close to her call her.

It's none other then the incredible, vivacious, fiercely feminine, some say highly opinionated Olufunmilola Aduke-'mi' Iyanda. Born today, July 27, in 1971.

Truth be said, Funmi has done very well for herself. We are one of the legions of her followers & friends, who loves her to the high heavens, medals, warts and all. If it were a country that truly appreciates hardwork for what it is, she would have received the highest accolades for her doggedness & brilliance.

But no matter what, we celebrate our own. Happy birthday dear. Long may you live. May the creator grant to you, all that you wish for yourself and others. Many more great years ahead.

MONSTER CAR WARS AMONGST THE MUSICIANS- WHAT'S UP WITH NOLLYWOOD AREN'T THEY DOING WELL TOO?

WHITE G WAGON G55 AMG
DAVIDO WITH BALES OF CASH

AUDI Q7 SUV QUATTRO

The message seem to be that you cannot outdo me. That's the current friendly rivalry that we think is going on now amongst the A-list reigning musicians in Nigeria. Obviously them 'pepper' don rest so if you have too much money at hand, What next to do, blow it on the supposed status symbols like cars, houses etc.

Twas Wizkid that first woke everybody up very recently, when he acquired his Porsche Panamera 4-door Turbo car, undoubtedly it is a statement car. Costing several millions. That seem to put out an alert which everyone got. Though he crashed the car (some have speculated that he got the first Porsche from Akon, who he is supposedly signed on to. But that's not as if he cannot afford the car though). Days after the crash that totally wrecked the car the Star Boi, launched another Porsche in the place of the crash one, showing he meant business and that he is not one of those trying to survive no more.

MORE AFTER THE BREAK. PLS CLICK ON READ MORE BELOW

In between that time, the Chairman himself, MI launched his own statement automobile, a Bentley this time around. From all indications, a brand new car, that must have set him back by several millions.

Also to establish his new status as one of the hottest in the land currently, Iyanya Mbuk also launched a new addition to his garage which already has a Range Rover, adding an E350, 2012 Mercedes Benz Saloon car. He also owns an Aston Martin from what we hear.

Now it's the turn of the only ''Omo Baba Olowo'', wait a minute there's also another Omo Baba Olowo in the person of Lynxxx. But the one we are on about now is the one and only 'DAVIDO'.

He seems to have taken this automobile war to another stratosphere. We hear he has just acquired a Mercedes Benz G-wagon. The new monster of all the monster is an AMG G55. For a 20 year old who lives in 'his' own multi-million Naira monster house and already owns a monster Audi Q7 car that was valued at 12 million Naira last year (a more conservative estimate would have been #10 Million Naira) and now a car that starts from about $120,000 (that's about #18 million Naira) still moving up. The young dude seems to favour White cars. Things are surely looking fantastic for our musicians oooo. So who is next in line for mega show-off ooo?

What's up with their Movie world counterparts? We don't seem to hear of all this kind of things (New cars, new homes etc) going on.

HIGH CHIEF EDEM DUKE TALKS ABOUT THE FASCINATING NIGERIA PROJECT-

For years, Nigeria as a nation has under-utilized – if not outrightly ignored – her tourism potential by doing little to preserve and promote its rich cultural heritage, alongside all the God-given natural gifts that abound in Africa’s most populous nation. The Fascinating Nigeria initiative aims to check and correct this past negligence with an aim to improve, sustain and amplify the country’s tourism culture. To shed some light on the initiative, Chief Edem Duke, the Honorable Minister of Tourism, Culture and Natural Orientation, graciously granted this quick but thorough interview from the departure lounge of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

HIGH CHIEF EDEM DUKE
What is the Fascinating Nigeria project really all about?
Fascinating Nigeria is the new way of communicating the tourism brand that Nigeria is offering to the world. It is an aggregation of all the cultural assets, all the tourism assets and all the definitive elements of our rich, cultural endowment. [It] is an expression of the creativity of every individual Nigerian; it is about the investment climate of Nigeria, which is the most profitable on the continent of Africa. [It] speaks to the very essence of the DNA of every Nigerian; the fact that we are a resilient people, we are very creative, we have dynamic enthusiasm, we are very forward looking, able to survive in all kinds of environments and we always take pride in our Nigerianness.
It is our belief that before now, Nigeria has been seen through a keyhole but in utilizing Fascinating Nigeria as a platform to tell the new and interesting stories of Nigeria, we open a big and wide door into, perhaps, one of the greatest countries on the face of the earth.
It all sounds very interesting but surely, you can understand the skepticism of Nigerians, as several initiatives are launched with no follow through. How is this different and what do we really have to offer from a tourist standpoint – Kenya has the Safari, for example – as business is the main reason foreigners visit Nigeria?

MORE AFTER THE BREAK. PLS CLICK ON READ MORE BELOW

Business brings people into Nigeria because it is the most profitable business destination on the continent. But then, our potential to grow domestic tourism is even great. When you think of the fact that this is a country of over 167 million people, all we need to do is make our country more interesting, in the perspectives of each and every Nigerian and to attract diasporan Nigerians and diasporan Africans, that there is a new jewel in the crown of Africa and that we have taken ourselves too much for granted in the past. You talked about the Safari, fine, after the Safari, what else is there to talk about? But when you talk about Nigeria, you talk about 774 local government areas, each with a unique culture, each with a unique offering, each with a special set of people of unbelievable potentials. You speak about 36 states and a Federal Capital Territory, virtually like 37 countries all-in-one. You talk about a huge population of diasporans, who are contributing, in no small measure, in academia, business; in every sphere of life, maintaining peace all over the world. We’re such a fascinating country. We need to instill a new sense of pride and self-esteem amongst our people. Every single Nigerian is fascinating and that is why this is the passion and this is a campaign for which [each of the] 167 plus-million Nigerians is an advocate.
There’s a troubling belief in Nigeria that everything needs to be done by the government but I expect that for a project this big, there must be heavy private involvement, particularly in hospitality and aviation for example. What role is the private sector playing in making this initiative a success?
You know, everyone always finds comfort in government companies but government is supposed to give the enabling environment and polity, framework. But the theme, Fascinating Nigeria, speaks to you and I; it resonates with the core of every Nigerian. You could write a book about what makes you fascinating; you could write a book about what makes your city fascinating; what makes your village fascinating, what makes your school fascinating; what makes your own areas of interest fascinating; anything whatsoever! So it is out of the hands of government completely, well not completely but in the sense that, this is a platform that every Nigerian can deploy because we are a truly extraordinary and fascinating people.
Are there any particular drives – seminars, conferences etc. – in place right now to pluralize efforts, besides the internet, to help get the process going and people involved or informed, at least?
This is what led to the launch and because we are a unique people, we can take this and utilize it in very many positive ways: using our social networks, our peer groups, our social clubs, educational institutions, old boys’ platforms; using every kind of relationship. You’ll find that truly, truly, the most distinctive thing, the most appropriate thing, the easiest thing that comes to us is just being sheer fascinating people.
What, then, are the main challenges that stand before us?
The main challenge, to start with, is self-belief. We embarked on this initiative because of the leadership of the President who says he wants to see a transformation, meaning a radical departure from the past, the past where we had little or no confidence in our own story. The past where we thought that government alone must do everything for each and every one of us, to a new today, where transformation begins with the individual, with the love that we express for one another, with behaving day to day as men and women, boys and girls of integrity, in the quality of service that we render where we find ourselves. The value for money that we give for goods and services that we offer, the cleanliness of our environment, the warmth of our hearts, the reception that we give to visitors who come into our country; all of these aggregate into these elements that make us, truly, a fascinating people and a fascinating country.
Finally, so you don’t miss your flight, how will the security concerns of foreign visitors be addressed?
I think it is important for us to reach out to the media and let them understand that the negative stories that are picked up by the West come from our own media. Nigeria is not worse off than many other countries that we know of but they work with the media to manage the integrity of their country.
We’re also going to be working within 50 corridors. Not every part of Nigeria is a tourism destination as at now, regardless of all the enormous potentials that exist all over the country. There are over 235 possible destinations and we’re just going to start gradually from one to another but let me also say, in many other parts of Africa, especially in North Africa where a lot of foreign tourists are going, you will see what is happening in those places and once there is a bit of respite, you’ll see that the government will first and foremost appeal to tourists to come, that their countries are safe for tourists. And that is because the tourists will be the eyes for the rest of the world. We need to borrow some of those lessons.
Another thing is that the people who come to do business in Nigeria, who flock in here, because Nigeria is such a sweet and profitable business destination, they don’t tell anybody else about it because they would like to savor and enjoy that destination all by themselves. That is why we have to initiate this campaign so that we can supplement and reposition our country in the minds and hearts of the rest of the world.

GBEMI SHASORE GETTING SET FOR LONDON CELEBRATION

Come August 10, 2013 in faraway London, precisely at the luxury 5-star Mayfair hotel, known to all as the Dorchester Hotel, on Park Lane, friends, family members, associates of Mrs Gbemi Shasore, the gorgeous wife of the former Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State 2007-2011, Olasupo Shasore SAN would converge as they would be celebrating madam clocking 50. Expectedly many from the Lagos Cabinet would grace the occasion.

MORE INFO AFTER THE BREAK. PLS CLICK ON READ MORE BELOW

50 is a significant age, it is a number that denotes jubilee-a season or an occasion of joyful celebration. So for Gbemi Shasore it's a special year of rejoicing. No wonder the choice of the iconic venue, which is acclaimed as occupying the most prestigious acre and half of real estate in the world in the heart of Mayfair overlooking the Hyde Park. This was the preferred hotel of the Queen of England for hosting some events in days gone by.

We especially love the invitation card we saw. The big envelope is an indigo affair and it had 2 cards in it, a big card & a much smaller one. Both gives the whole info about the event, we particularly loved the smaller more lively card which says-  Production- Gbemi Five-O, Director- Gbemi Shasore, Date- 10:08:13, Take- 50 and ends with Scene- Party scene at the Dorchester. Cocktails- 6.30PM, Dinner-8.00PM, Theme- The Oscar's, Dress-code- A-list glamourous, Dancing-Compulsory.

So from all indications, it is planned as a high octane, very exclusive celebration, in the mold of the best of Hollywood glam. So on the event date guests are expected at 6.30PM for the cocktail gathering, before dinner would start at 8PM, the invited guests are expected to come through entrance 53, on Park Lane.

Mrs. Gbemi Shasore, is a well known & well respected event management consultant, also the past president of the International Women Society (IWS). We can testify to the fact that she's one of the 'world's nicest human being' we have ever come across, very accommodating and with a good heart. So as she clocks 50, we are one of those very happy ones who is mighty glad to celebrate her to the high heavens. We pray that God would just continually bless her & add more grace to her life.

HAPPY 50TH. Dorchester here we come!

JOSEPH YOBO SET TO SEEK LEGAL REDRESS OVER LIES PUBLISHED. DEBUNKS WRITE-UPS AS LIES

JY & ADAEZE
JY, JOEY & ADAEZE
STILL VERY STUNNING ADAEZE YOBO

The captain of the national football team-The Super Eagles of our great country is not presently in the best of moods. Main reason is because some people have thought to rubbish him, throw the name he took time to build in the mud & to try to disunite his family.

And because of this he has made up his mind that he has not going to take it lying low. We spoke extensively with the ace defender who plays for the Turkish giant Fenerbahce FC earlier today and he told us without mincing a word that all that has been written about him & his extended family members are pack of lies from the pits of hell.

He says and we quote him ''There's is no iota of truth in the report that has gained grounds of recent'' ''There was no encounter of the such that was described to have happened between my mother-in-law and I''. We as a family are in the best of place in our lives currently. Someone from some place, just sat down and decided to construct a lie: a total fabrication from their own imagination.

He went on further ''I love my wife and I love her very much, nothing anyone does can bring any division between us and between our families. The Yobos & the Fashanus have a great relationship, a fantastic one at that and very good mutual respect for each other, and we thank God for that.

CONCLUDING PART AFTER THE BREAK. PLS CLICK ON READ MORE BELOW

There was never a time that I sent my Mother-in-Law packing from my home for being a bad influence on her own daughter, who is my wife. How can people just come up with stories about what never happened.

Still quoting the player who is currently the most capped Nigerian player to have played for the National team-

'We have no problems at all'.  We have 2 great houses next to each other in Istanbul, Turkey that is big enough to accommodate our families, without anyone invading on anyone's privacy. They are just trying to destroy the 2 families.

When we first came across the stories, we thought okay it was just one of those silly little gossips and that it would soon fade away and be forgotten. Only for us to read it and found out it was very well orchestrated pack of lies, from the beginning to the end of it: they didn't even know where I am from and claimed I am from Plateau State.

They constructed lies about my mother-in-law and her family, claiming all that is not true and that they have no proof of. Most definitely, this is just somebody trying to damage these families. I can tell you categorically, I would not swap my wife for anybody in this world, no woman from anywhere can take her place, she means the world to me.

The number of calls we have received over this falsehood is unbelievable. People calling to find out what was going on.  I tell you now and this is the absolute truth- ''My wife is my best friend, she's my queen, she's my everything, our families are doing great and doing very well together. Anyone thinking otherwise is only wasting his or her time.

I am not going to allow anyone disrespect my Mother-in-law wrongfully. I am not going to accept this. They have stepped way out of line this time and I am not going to take it lying low. We would definitely seek legal redress.

He is going ahead to sue now because he alleges that what has been published borders on outright unfounded allegations that cannot be substantiated by the writers of the publications.

Ronke Ademiluyi Sheds Light on the African Arts and Fashion Fundraiser

With just a little over a week to go to the biggest African fashion extravaganza outside of Africa that is Africa Fashion Week London 2013 scheduled for 1-3 August 2013 at Old Truman Brewery, and last minute surge for ticket to the event, this year’s third edition is to set the standard for years to come.

AFWL 2013, set to take over the fashionable district of Shoreditch with 100 designers showcasing their designs on the runway and inside the grand exhibition hall and around 20,000 guests expected over three days, also marks a difference with this third edition with three ambassadors, two patrons and a glitzy grand finale at The Dorchester Hotel on Sunday, 4 August 2013 to introduce African Arts and Fashion Initiative and the existing Association of African Designers in the Diaspora.

African Arts and Fashion Initiative and Association of African Designers are both initiatives which intend to create start up funds for young designers to assist them in turning their creativity into sustainability. The exclusive debut event intends to serve as the first fundraiser event for both initiatives as well as a number of other selected charities and foundations.

“These initiatives are governed by the same vision that gave birth to Africa Fashion Week London – the passion to support and celebrate emerging designers. While the majority often celebrate established designers across Africa and around the world, it is the emerging talents who struggle to get their work out there due to a range of challenges from lack of start up funds to means of production,” said Ronke Ademiluyi.

“When you empower young people it is like an investment because if they are better educated and empowered, the future growth of our countries will be high, which is all the more the reason we should all strive to do more to help our young emerging talents reach their full potentials.”
